This is Candy’s second year to
be the Assistant Principal at
Hedgcoxe Elementary. She is currently beginning her 3rd year in that
role and her
28th year in education with 24 of those years being employed by Plano
ISD. She began her teaching career in Lubbock,
Texas and then taught 10
years at Huffman
Elementary and 2 years at Rose Haggar Elementary in Plano. During
those years as a classroom teacher, she was a
member of the
Integrated Curriculum Team and helped develop the third grade district
curriculum. She then spent the next 10 years working in the
Instructional
Technology Department of Plano ISD. Before becoming a teacher,
she
attended Texas Tech University
and University of North
Texas
to obtain a Bachelor’s Degree and a Master’s Degree in
Elementary
Education. In 2001 she obtained her Principal Certification from
the University
of Texas Arlington.
After
spending time working with the Instructional Technology Department, she
wanted
to once again work more closely with children. “I wanted to be
able to be
directly involved in making a difference in their education. I’m
so very
fortunate to be at Hedgcoxe and working with such a dedicated staff and
principal.” In addition to her Hedgcoxe family, she has a
husband, Fred, 2
grown children and has been blessed with 4 beautiful grandchildren all
of which
live in Frisco.
