Family: One son, Nick, who teaches private oboe and performs with the Los Colinas Symphony, plus one long-haired cat, A-chan.

Interests/Hobbies: I love teaching music  - whether to elementary students, college students, training student teachers, or my private piano students.  I also enjoy going to plays, the symphony, musicals, and the movies. I am trying to learn to love to exercise.

Interesting fact about me: Plano ISD’s Teacher of the Year in 1995; Who’s Who Among American Teachers, 2002, 2004, 2005.  I have spent time in Hungary studying the music education system in that country. I also have taught Pedagogy, Level III in the Kodály Certification Program at UNT. 

Education: B.F.A. in Visual Art Studies from the University of Texas at Austin.  Hook'em Horns! I am starting graduate school at the University of North Texas thia year an dhope to have my M.F.A. by Spring 2012.

Years in Education: 6 total. (This is my 4th year at Hedgcoxe!)

Family: I have been married to my wonderful husband, Kevin, since May 2005. We have two cats, Yumi and Takashi. I grew up in Houston and have two brothers and two sisters. I also have three nieces and two nephews.

Interests: I love to run and am training for another marathon. To counterbalance the running, I also enjoy swimming, riding my bike, and yoga. Other interests include backpacking, photography, ceramics, reading, traveling and learning about art history and other cultures.
