ART

Take a road trip to the Kimball Art Museum in Fort Worth.
2.  Paint an abstract (non-realistic) picture.
3.  Make a sculpture out of cardboard.
4.  Support a local art gallery and visit the Art Center of Plano.       
     (It’s Free!)
5.  Fold paper to make origami.
6.  Go to the library to research an artist.  Write a short
     biography about your artist.
7.  Be an architect and design and build a sand castle.
8.  Check out the kid’s arts and a ctivities section at Half Price
     Books.
9.  Ride the DART train to the DMA (Dallas Museum of Art).
10.  Create your own maze.
11.  Visit an antique shop and appreciate the art in everyday
       objects.  
12.  Go outside and draw a tree from your yard or
       neighborhood.
13.  Draw where you would go on your dream vacation.
14.  Try to make an artwork using the computer.  
15.  Imagine you are an ant and draw what you would see.

Music

1.  Write a poem and sing it to a familiar tune such as Are You Sleeping?
2.  Practice the words to The Star-Spangled Banner so that you can sing
it at a ball game.
3.  Pretend you are a Rock Star and put on a performance for someone else.
4.  Make a musical instrument and use it to accompany you as you sing a song.  See www.DSOkids.com for ideas.
5.  Chose a song you love and sing it to your Dad for Father’s Day.
6.  Go on the website: www.DSOkids.com and play Composer’s Baseball.
7.  Go to a friend’s house and sing a song in canon with him/her.
8.  Look in the newspaper for a famous musician or composer.  Read about him/her. Cut out the information and bring it to music class in August.
9.  If Johan Sebastien Bach lived from 1685-1750, how old was he when he  died?
10. Who was Francis Scott Key?
11. Draw a picture of your favorite musical instrument.
12. Attend a concert and bring the concert program to class in August.  What piece was your favorite and why?
13. Can you use your hand signs to sing “Happy Birthday?” Hint: The song begins on low so.
14. Go to the library and find a book about Mozart.  Read it!
15. Sing a Texas song today.  If you don’t know one go to Isjunction.com
16.   Who is John Williams and what music did he write? Look for his bio at DSOKids.com
17.  Pretend you are a Rock Star and put on a performance for someone else.
18.  Get your friends together and hold a Talent Show for your parents. Have your mom or dad video tape it so you can watch yourselves perform.
19.  Learn a new song.
20.  Make up new words to a song tune you already know.

PE

•    Teach someone how to do a correct push up., then do 20 push ups together.
•    Ask mom or dad to take a 1 mile walk with you.
•    Dance to your favorite song.
•    Swim 5 laps in your neighborhood pool.
•    Teach someone how to do a correct curl up, then do 20 curl ups together.
•    Do 50 jumping jacks.
•    Plan a balanced meal for your family and help mom or dad cook it.
•    Jump rope for 5 minutes.
•    Create a jump rope routine.
•    Make up your own dance.
•    Eat 3 green vegetables or fruits.
•    Read a nutrition label and talk about it with your parents.
•    Make a healthy snack for your family to enjoy.
•    Stretch during the commercials of your favorite TV show.
•    Do 2 push ups for every item on the floor of your closet.
•    Make a food diary of everything you eat today.
•    Do three chores for your mom or dad.
•    Eat a green and a red vegetable today.
•    Make up an exercise routine including push ups, curl ups and jumping jacks. Teach your routine to a friend.
•    Try a low-fat yogurt today.
•    Take a walk after dinner with mom or dad.
•    Drink 8 glasses of water today.
•    Check out the nutrition label of your favorite cereal.
•    Balance on 1 foot for 30 seconds and then switch.
•    Do 15 stretches before breakfast.
•    Have your family do 50 jumping jacks together.
•    Race your parents down the sidewalk.
•    Crabwalk from your room to your kitchen.
•    Dribble a basketball 20 times with each hand.
•    Play a game of catch with a friend or neighbor.
Leap across your yard and count how many leaps it takes
