Achievements/Recognitions
Hughston continues to be a leader in the school district in terms of overall student performance. Even though the TAKS Test is the main indicator in the TEA's accountability system, we continue to ensure that other aspects of each child's education also receive emphasis. Enthusiastic teamwork directs us toward achieving our mission.

Consistently achieve an Exemplary Rating from TEA, High-Performing School Citation by National Center for Educational Accountability (NCEA), 2002, Texas Blue Ribbon School of Excellence (1996), PISD Exemplary Writing School, National Safe, Disciplined Drug-Free School, Exemplary School Status (1995 - 2008), Hughston Destination ImagiNation teams represented PISD at the State competition (1997-2007) and world competition, Mockingbird Poetry Winners (1996 - 2008), DFW Community Newspaper's Harte-Hanks Reader's Choice Award Best Teacher of Collin County 2001, H. Ross Perot Excellence in Teaching Award 1993, Wal-Mart Teacher of the Year 1998, 2004, 2007, Principal named Gifted Advocate of the Year for Region 10 (2000), Community Forum's Educator of the Year Award 2005, Regional Science Fair Grand Prize Winners, WordMasters Winners, Mustang Magic Literary Magazine, Continental Mathematics League winners, National Board-Certified Librarian.
