Hughston
Bluebonnet Breakfast
'Best in the West' |
| Hughston’s third, fourth and fifth grades love
participating in our annual Texas Bluebonnet Award program.
From a list of twenty books, children who read or have heard
at least five are able to vote for their favorite. Almost all
the children vote! The favorite at Hughston was And
the Dish Ran Away with the Spoon. Our votes are
forwarded on to Austin to be combined with those of other children
in the state. The Golden Mare, the Firebird, and the Magic
Ring won the Texas Bluebonnet Award this year. We celebrate
the event with our annual Bluebonnet Breakfast, which was held
on March 5, in the library. Students who had read ten or more
books receive an invitation. Besides enjoying BLUEberry muffins
on BLUE plates and juice in BLUE cups, students receive BLUE
bookmarks and are the very first to find out the winner of the
Texas Bluebonnet Award. |
