Book Fair
Look for information in your child's "GO" folder for our spring
book fair. The book fairs help fund library books and other school
needs.
Box Tops for Education
You can help earn money for Hughston by saving "Box Tops for
Education" off of marked boxes of General Mills products. Most recently,
3,000 box tops were collected at Hughston which resulted in a check
for $385 for our school!
Carnival
The school's largest fundraiser, the carnival, is held in the
fall and includes fun for the whole family. Hughston invites the
entire community to join us at our carnival which includes outdoor
and indoor games, face painting, nail salon, crafters, fun house,
silent auction, kid's craft area, karaoke, photo booth, animal walk,
cake walk, bake sale and much more!

Keep Plano Beautiful and Earn Money for
Our School!
Sponsored by the City of Plano, this program will award $1,000
to Hughston if the volume of curbside recycling increases by 10%
on a monthly basis between February and April 22, 2000 (Earth Day).
Plano recycles: newspapers, magazines, plastics #1 and #2, clear
and colored glass, aluminum, steel, tin and aerosol cans.
Plano Star Courier (D/FW Community Newspapers)
When you begin a new subscription or renew your current subscription
to the Plano Star Courier, the paper will donate money to our PTO.

School Supply Sale
The annual school supply sale "pre-order" forms will be coming
home with your child in April for the 2000-2001 school year. Help
support our school by ordering your child's complete pre-packaged
supplies from the PTO.
Scrip (Gift Certificates)
October, 2000, is the kick-off month for the new Scrip program
at Hughston. More than 8,000 schools, churches and nonprofit organizations
in 46 states are involved with Scrip. Through Scrip, gift certificates
are issued by many stores in our community. When you purchase these
gift certificates in advance of your shopping, our school earns
a percentage of your purchase. We are able to buy these certificates
at a discount and resell them to you at full face value. The discount,
ranging from 2% to 25%, is the net contribution retained by Hughston.
Your participation doesn't cost you anything! For example, if you
buy $100 worth of JCPenney gift certificates, you still have your
full $100 in Scrip to spend at JCPenney, just like cash. Since we
bought the gift certificate for $95, JCPenney has, in essence, donated
$5 to our school. Look for the Scrip Order Form to come home in
your child's folder or download it here.
Send the order form and your payment to the school the first week
of each month. Turnaround will be one week for Scrip pick-up. See

Thunderbird Skate Nights
Come out and support Hughston twice a year at our all-school
skate night held at Thunderbird Skate Center, 3200 Thunderbird Lane.
Look for details in your child's "GO" folder.
Tom Thumb Good Neighbor "Reward Card"
Program
Tom Thumb gives Hughston back 1% of all purchases made with the
Tom Thumb Reward Card -- if you designate Hughston or Hughston PTO
as one of your choices in their Good Neighbor Program.

Tyson's Project A+
Tyson will give us 20 cents for each Tyson Project A+ panel we
collect. Tyson will also award an additional 4 cents per panel to
the school's cafeteria. That's 24 cents total our school will receive
for each panel! The Tyson A+ Panel is printed on boxes of Tyson
Chicken Patties, Chunks, Tenders and Fillets (all varieties). |
