About Ms. Engelking

Mrs. Engelking started teaching in Plano I.S.D. in 1979; prior to that she taught in the Dallas I.S.D.  She has taught in both the Elementary and the Middle School setting.  Mrs. Engelking has taught in the general education classroom, special education/resource, special education/self-contained, been a Plano Academic Support Specialist, and also a Reading Specialist.  She has been the Principal of Sigler Elementary (1996 – 2001), Meadows Elementary (2001 – 2004), and her most recent appointment is to Hunt Elementary.

Hunt Hounds . . . on the trail to excellence

This simple statement sums up the heart and soul of Hunt.  We are here to educate all children in a safe and caring environment; and our expectation is one of challenging our children to learn to their greatest capacity.  We will work to instill respect for self and others, responsibility for personal choices, and concern for community in all that we teach and do at Hunt Elementary.

Being selected to serve as the Principal of Martha Hunt Elementary is the high point of my 30 years of being an educator in the great state of Texas, 27 of those years being an educator in one of the most outstanding school districts in the nation, Plano ISD.  This has definitely been a journey of mind and heart, every year preparing me to move on to new learning and new challenges - culminating in the opportunity to open a new school.  A school that represents in namesake someone that was an important part of "the heart of the Plano school system", Mrs. Martha Hunt!  What an honor to be the instructional leader in a building that bears Martha Hunt's name, a name that is synonymous with excellence.
