Hunt's Mission Statement

Hunt's Motto

Hundreds of Plano ISD parents, teachers, business and civic leaders serve on School Based Improvement Committees (SBIC) on each of the district's campuses. Committees include representatives from the business community who work with teachers and parents and other community members analyzing student test data and developing goals which will positively affect student achievement.

A large team of trained facilitators assists the committees in their work. These facilitators are teachers, principals, and district administrators who volunteer their time for extensive training in team-building and group facilitation and for working with the committees.

The district conducts annual training for facilitators and SBIC members. Training is conducted on law and local policies, the "Academic Excellence Indicator System" report from the Texas Education Agency, and in goal-setting and communication. The work of our SBICs has paid off...In recent years Plano ISD has doubled the number of exemplary schools in the state's accountability rating system. The district has no low performing schools and test scores have improved for every state-identified student group.

In addition to the school based improvement process, the District Based Improvement Committee has taken seriously the challenge of developing and refining our district improvement plan. Teams of staff members have reviewed and revised many aspects of curriculum planning and management, professional development, long-range planning and organization. The district is also continuing to study how we can ensure equity and excellence as we grow.

For more information about the SBIC process, contact your school principal or the Plano ISD Communications Office at (469) 752-8150.
