3rd grade
is a huge transition year! Our students are striving to become more independent;
they are taking ownership of their work; and they are becoming more aware of
the world outside of themselves.
Third Grade highlights include learning about the history of Plano, presenting
a 3rd grade fair, learning about different cultures and, of course, the TAKS
reading test. News from the Texas Education Agency states:
AUSTIN – Texas third-grade students reaped the benefits of the state’s
reading initiative and passed the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS)
reading exam in higher-than-predicted numbers. “Our third-graders earned
a great big gold star today. The state set high expectations for them, and they
rose to the challenge,” said Commissioner of Education Felipe Alanis.
At
Jackson we are very proud of our success rate and we consider the TAKS test
to be a reflection of our high quality curriculum.
We welcome all 3rd graders look forward to teaching them and watching them grow
into responsible citizens!
