The Plano ISD art program is built on a solid foundation which consists of the TEKS, DBAE (Disciplined Based Art Education) and cross-curriculum. In DBAE we analyze the works of famous artists and determine what methods are used to make them successful. This involves studying the elements of art and principles of design and pondering questions that foster higher level thinking skills. When students are assigned a project based on the material that we have discussed, divergent thinking, a creative process in which the students produce an original work of art, is used to provide a solution to the objectives. Divergent thinking allows the student to think creatively, so that no two works appear to be exactly alike.

Every year for Open House we make art for Multicultural Night. Each grade level creates art that is inspired from a particular country in the world. Every student's artwork is displayed for this very special occasion.
