Lauren Karcher, on behalf of the Collin County Community College's Service Learning group that chose Memorial's TEAMS as their volunteer organization, presented Carol Truscott (on left) with a check for 2nd Place. Students choose a volunteer organization to work with and these students chose to volunteer their time each week to come to Memorial to tutor students in reading and math. The students were required to give a presentation on what they learned and how they were impacted by their experience. Many of these students have chosen to continue their work at Memorial through the end of the 2005-06 school year.

Plano East Mathletics Competition

Mathletics Team

Memorial is pleased to announce that we placed in four areas of the Plano East Mathletics Competition held recently.

Oscar D. was a 1st Place Individual Test winner and won an MCI Calculator! Amanda G. won the M&M Guesstimation event and Enrique T. won the Lego Guesstimation contest. The Fourth Grade Team comprised of Amanda G. Michael R. and Oscar D. placed third.

$1,000 Memorial Scholarship

Memorial Elementary School's business partner, Medical Center of Plano offers a $1,000 scholarship to a Plano graduating senior who attended at least two years at Memorial.  This scholarship is designed to inspire students to set higher educational goals.  Students interested in applying for this scholarship should get an application at the senior high school counselor's office.
