Volunteer Job Descriptions

"HELPING HANDS, HELPING OUR CHILDREN"

The PTA needs volunteer workers to make its programs as successful as possible. By volunteering in some capacity, you have a wonderful opportunity to support your school and, in turn, your child! The following are brief job descriptions of each volunteer area.

Room Parent: Volunteers work with the Grade Level Coordinator to organize class parties. The job includes calling other parents for refreshments, planning games, coordinating party favors, and being present at the parties to help set up, etc. You will also be asked to help find volunteers from your class to help with other PTA functions, such as fundraisers.

Refreshments: Volunteers provide cookies, cupcakes, drinks, paper goods, etc. to at least one of the class parties.

Help day of the party: Volunteers set up before the party, help with games, pass out refreshments, and clean up after the party.

Helping with fund raisers: Volunteers are needed to help in a variety of ways: making and copying flyers, collecting and tabulating order forms, working the day of the fund raiser.

Hospitality: Volunteers provide food and help for PTA’s Staff Appreciation Luncheon, as well as help out at Moms and Muffins and Dads and Donuts.

Mendenhall Masterpiece: A compilation of Mendenhall student’s art work, writing, etc.

Library: Volunteers work in the library for half a day each week or every other week helping students find and select books, check out books, and shelve books. No experience necessary!

Clinic: Volunteers will help in the nurses clinic (not distributing medicine) as needed. No experience necessary!

Office: Volunteers will answer phones and do other office help as needed.

Child Safe: Volunteers will follow up on absentees when the school has received no call.

PTA Support: Volunteers are needed to create, copy and distribute flyers for PTA events. We also need volunteers to translate PTA flyers and other materials into Spanish.
