Mitchell Elementary School, PACE Program

The P.A.C.E. program is designed to meet the needs of those students who are academically gifted. It is specifically designed as a general academic program and integrates the four core areas of language arts, math, science, and social studies into its curriculum.

Identification of students is conducted not to label students, but to determine which students require program differentiation because of their unique educational needs. Referrals for testing may be made by parents, teachers, or students. The referral deadline for spring testing for kindergarten students is
November 9, 2010. Parents will be notified of the results of the tests by mail in late February. Program services will begin March 1, 2011, for the newly placed kindergarten students. The referral deadline for students in grades 1 - 5 is March 10, 2011. Testing will take place in March/April. Parents will be notified of the results of these tests by mail in mid May 2011. Services for children placed in the program in grades 1-5 will begin in August 2011.
