This two semester course is required for graduation, and the essential elements (objectives for both semesters) must be mastered.

World Geography introduces the students to the physical and human world around them and helps them to develop the means to examine that world. Facts and information on physical , cultural, and economic geography, as well as abundant opportunities to refine the content through the use of map and globe skills, reading skills, and critical thinking skills will be provided.

REQUIRED MATERIALS: You will be expected to bring to class each day:
1” Three ring binder
Notebook paper Zipper pouch in which you will place
Notebook dividers (6) black pen
map colors
pencils
red pen
highlighter (optional)
Color markers
These will be due Monday the second week of the semester

MAKEUP WORK: This is your responsibility. Refer to your unit calendar/lesson plans. Please get your materials and additional instructions. Times for makeup will be listed on your calendar. Please arrange any test makeup for this time. If there is any conflict, please make special arrangements with me. If you have not been absent, you are expected to complete homework and reading assignments prior to coming to class.
You grade will be computed as follows:
75% = major test and projects
25% = classwork, homework and quizzes
Discussion and participation is a major part of active learning, and much of what we do in class revolves around discussion. I hope that you will feel free to participate while remembering to respect the rights of others.

TARDY POLICY: DON’T BE LATE!!!!!!!!! The school tardy policy will be enforced. If you are tardy to class, please sign you name, date, time on the tablet on the back counter of the room. This is for your protection to avoid an unexcused absence.

TEXTBOOKS: Your text book should be covered. The teacher is the final authority on the condition of the textbook should damage occur (1/2 of the price of the book for broken binding or torn cover.) Please take some time to evaluate your issued text’s condition and make any comments about damage on your information sheet. Inform me immediately if you have lost your textbook.
