Criminal Investigations
The objective of this course is to introduce each student to the basic fundamentals of criminal investigation with practical (hands-on) forensic related exercises to reinforce procedures learned in the classroom and from the text. The class will use criminal investigation cases to apply the techniques learned in the classroom setting. Instruction, information, and research will also be conducted using Internet and library resources. Instruction will include, but will not be limited to: collection of physical evidence, identifying witnesses, victims and suspects, arrest procedures, surveillance, Crime Scene Investigation, Blood spatter analysis, Forensic entomology, Inked/Latent Fingerprinting, search techniques, criminal elements, criminal offenses, case management, court preparation and court room presentation.
