The Congressional Art Contest launched in 1982 was coordinated by Members of Congress to recognize original artwork by students all over the United States. Each congressional member hosts a local competition and the winning artwork from each district then travels to Washington, D.C. to be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capital Building’s Cannon Tunnel. In additon, an awards ceremony will be hosted by Congressman Sam Johnson’s office on Monday, April 20, 2009. During the ceremony artwork will also be chosen for the “Peoples Choice Award”
