The Plano East Music Theory Department strives to achieve high standards of music literacy and competence in performers and non-performers alike. To understand the goals of literacy and competence, one must first accept that music is a language. With that knowledge in place, we can now set goals in four separate linguistic areas: verbal skill, listening comprehension, reading, and writing.
