Senior Portraits - Class of 2018!

Graduation Rehearsal

Graduation rehearsal will be held on Thursday, June 1 from 1:15-2:15pm in the Archie E. McAfee Gymnasium at Plano East. Graduates must attend graduation rehearsal to participate in the graduation ceremony.

Attire

  • Plano East black cap and gown with black and gold tassel are required for participation in the graduation ceremony.
  • Girls are expected to wear dresses with appropriate shoes.
  • Boys are expected to wear dress trousers, dress shirts, ties, and appropriate shoes and socks.
  • Athletic shoes and beach sandals will not be allowed.
  • Students must be properly attired to participate in the graduation ceremony.

Graduation Tickets for Family and Guests

Seniors are alloted 9 (nine) tickets each for the graduation ceremony. Seniors must pick up their own graduation tickets (no parents please) on campus Friday, June 2 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon. The exact location will be announced at a later date. Only seniors who have passed all end-of-course exams and all courses required for graduation may participate in the commencement exercises. Receipt of tickets does not guarantee participation since grades for all exams will not have been posted at the time of distribution. Students must present a photo I.D. and sign for receipt.

The Ford Center - Information

Visit the website for The Ford Center at The Star in Frisco for more information. One particular policy to note is their bag policy. As an NFL venue, they are subject to NFL rules pertaining to bags. Their policy is stated here for your convenience.

Bag Policy

Prohibited bags include, but are not limited to, the following: all purses, bags or containers larger than a small clutch bag, coolers, briefcases, backpacks, fanny packs, cinch bags, luggage of any kind, computer bags and camera bags.

We strongly encourage fans to limit the number of items they bring with them to the stadium on game day.

Fans may carry only the following style and size bag, package, or container at the plaza areas, gates, or when approaching queue lines of fans awaiting entry into Ford Center:

  • Approved bags that are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and do not exceed 12" x 6" x 12." The bags may be hand-carried or have a shoulder strap. Clear plastic, vinyl or PVC bags in accordance with the size set forth above with a high school logo are also acceptable).
  • One-gallon clear plastic freezer bag (Ziploc bag or similar).
  • Small, one compartment, clutch bag approximately the size of a hand, with or without a handle or strap. No larger than 5.5 x 8.5." This can be carried separately or within a plastic bag.

An exception will be made for medically necessary items after proper inspection at a gate designated for this purpose.

Final Exam Grade Waiver and Final Exam Exemption Guidelines

Final Exam Grade Waiver – 9th, 10th, 11th grade

Students enrolled in an AP/IB course for the second semester of the school year may be eligible for a grade waiver from the final exam in that subject for the second semester if the following conditions exist:

  • A minimum grade of 80 overall 2nd semester average (per class) and 80 for the 4th nine weeks must be maintained (per class).
  • Student shall have no more than four absences during the second semester (per class).
  • Student shall have no more than five tardies in that AP/IB class.
  • No major infractions resulting in ISS, Saturday School, Out of School Suspension, or Special Program Center.
  • Student must have no outstanding fines, fees, or debts for school property or other PISD services.
  • Student takes the semester exam on the date/time originally scheduled or, in the case of an excused absence, during the determined make-up exam time.

To qualify for the grade waiver students must report to class on the day of the exam and take the final exam for the course. Students will have the option of allowing the final exam grade to be counted towards their grade or utilizing the grade waiver option.

If a student has an unexcused absence during the exam, the student forfeits the grade waiver option, and will take the exam for credit.

Final Exam Exemption – 12th grade

Seniors may qualify for exemption from final exams during the second semester of the school year if the following conditions exist:

  • A senior in an AP/IB class must meet the criteria noted above to qualify for exemption in that AP/IB class, or

For seniors in all other classes:

  • A minimum grade of 85 overall 2nd semester average (per class) and 85 for the 4th nine weeks must be maintained (per class).
  • Student shall have no more than four absences during the second semester (per class).
  • Student shall have no more than five tardies in each class.
  • No major infractions resulting in ISS, Saturday School, Out of School Suspension, or Special Program Center.
  • Student must have no outstanding fines, fees, or debts for school property or other PISD services.

To qualify for the exam exemption, students must be present in class for each exam. Various activities will be conducted at this time for students qualified to use exemptions, including the completion of course evaluations, student surveys, and projects. Exempt students may choose to take the exam and have the option of utilizing a grade waiver or allowing the final exam grade to be counted towards their grade.

If a student has an unexcused absence during the exam, the student forfeits the option to take advantage of the exam exemption, and will take the exam for credit.

New Student Registration

The Plano East Counseling office will be open this summer Monday through Thursday from 7:30am‑5:30pm. Students and parents may call 469‑752‑9000 to request an appointment to enroll. The following documents will be required:

  1. Proof of residency, which can be a current electricity, water or natural gas bill bearing the name of the parent or guardian. A lease that includes the name of the student and the parent or guardian is also acceptable.
  2. Photocopy of Transcripts from previous high schools.
  3. Birth Certificate
  4. Social Security Card
  5. Immunization Records
  6. Parent of legal guardian with a photo ID
