Calculus BC AP

| PREREQUISITE: | Precalculus honors or very exceptional students from pre-calculus. (Students who do not like math are not advised to take this course.) Suggested PSAT Score - 57 Math. |
| DESCRIPTION: |
The curriculums of BC Calculus is specified by the College Board and agrees
with the curriculum of the first two semesters of calculus in most colleges.
Topics include:

| HOMEWORK: | Students will have homework every night in which the students will be expected to extend the material presented in class. Homework is collected. |
| TESTS: | There will be two exams per six weeks. |
| SPECIAL PROJECTS: | A weekly project called a "problem session", consisting of four questions taken from previous AP exams, is assigned every week. Students generally take from one to two hours to complete the problems. |
| SPECIAL MATERIALS: | A scientific calculator is required; however, a graphing calculator of at least the capability of a TI81 is strongly suggested. |
| NOTE: | This course is a college course and is not designed as a preliminary course. Students are expected to take the AP exam at the end of the year. |
| DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AB AND BC CALCULUS: | In the two calculus courses designated by the College Board, the letters AB, BC refer to three sets of topics, the A topics which are primarily pre-calculus concepts, the B which are the integral and differential calculus and the C which include polar coordinates, sequences and series and vectors. |
