DESCRIPTION:

This is a course for juniors or seniors that are not quite ready for Algebra 2.  It reviews all Algebra 1 topics and briefly touches on some Algebra 2 concepts.  It also contains some Probability and Statistics.  A fair amount of TAKS review is done in this course.  A student would be ready for Algebra 2 or College Algebra after MMA.

HOMEWORK: There will be an assignment almost every night which will require reading as well as work problems. Most students will need to work approximately 45 minutes outside of class. Students should re-read class notes on a nightly basis as a way to study.
TESTS: All major tests are scheduled in advance and noted on a class calendar that each student receives. Major quizzes will be announced in advance. Binder quizzes will be given once weekly on varying days with no announcement. Binder quizzes consist of locating information in their daily notes and worksheets.

  • One inch 3-ring binder
  • One box of tissues
  • One pack of Pencils
  • Loose leaf paper
  • One dry erase marker
NOTES: There will be several units throughout the year that require the use of a TI-84 graphing calculator. You may purchase one if you wish to have your own. You may also check one out from the library depending on availability. There will be a limited set of calculators available in the classroom when needed.
