Communication Applications
Communication Applications is
a state mandated course needed for graduation. It teaches
skills for job interviews, presentation, and public speaking
skills in used in both business and personal life.

Creative Writing
Creative
Writing is intended to provide students with an opportunity
to build and improve creative writing skills. Content
includes self-reflection, creative discipline and mechanical
improvement while writing and exploring poetry, prose
and literary non-fiction. This is a writing class, which
means that there will be writing assignments every day.
Students will succeed in this class IF they are willing
to write constantly, edit work, and cooperate with others
in writing groups.

Debate
Debate is a competition speech
class. People in this class can be selected to represent
PSHS on the speech team. The class teaches skills for
argumentation, research, critical thinking and current
events. Students participate and learn about extemporaneous
speaking, debate and student congress. The course can
be taken for Honors credit.

Oral Interpretation
Oral Interpretation is an acting
and communication class focusing on drama, prose, poetry,
oratory and life-long communication tools. People in this
class can be selected to represent PSHS on the speech
team. The class teaches analysis of literature, research,
organization, creation of characters, critical thinking
and interpersonal skills through the venues of oratory,
dramatic interpretation, humorous interpretation, duet
acting and other performance oriented venues. The course
can be taken for Honors credit.

Radio and TV
This
course is intended to provide students with the opportunity
to build and refine understanding of media, primarily
through the perspective of television. This chance to
increase knowledge will be experienced through a survey
of relevant television genre, study of pertinent issues
and activities designed to stimulate higher-level thinking
and communication skills.
