Reading: Word attack, vocabulary, comprehension, strategies, and study skills are taught. Diagnostic testing is used to provide appropriate material for students. Personal reading is part of the course. |

The course provides opportunities for growth in vocabulary, critical comprehension, and learning strategies. Students will be diagnostically assigned to reading materials and class activities that will facilitate growth in overall reading ability. |

for Thinking: This elective course emphasizes reading of both fiction and non-fiction in an integrated approach. Students will pursue themes and topics of individual interest and respond in various written and oral formats. |
