Robinson Physical Education Guidelines


Goals for the year:

To attain efficient body mechanics to help lead a healthy life.

To attain skills, knowledge and motivation for participating in a variety of physical education activities.

To develop an appreciation for sports and a wholesome attitude toward leisure activities.

To develop safety habits concerning playing conditions and equipment.

To learn the rules, regulations and officiating of various sports.

To develop emotional control through the release of tension and through the restraint of emotions during stress.

To offer a variety of activities to meet individual needs.

Rules and Regulations:

1. Do what's right, do your best, and treat people the way you want to be treated.

2. Students not inside the gym doors when the tardy bell rings will be considered tardy to class!

3. Students will have an assigned seat in the gym.

4. Students will have approximately seven to ten minutes to get dressed and washed up after class activities.

5. Students will remain in their respective dressing room, until the dismissal bell rings.

6. No horse playing at any time.

7. Proper clothing is required to participate in gym class.

Fitness Days:
We will have fitness days twice a week; the coaching staff will decide what two days, it may change every week.

Locks and Valuables:

1. A lock and basket is provided for each student.

2. Do not share baskets.

3. It is the student’s responsibility to make sure their lock is properly locked at all times.

4. A $6.00 charge will be assessed for any lost lock; the student will be issued another lock after paying for a new lock.

5. Do not enter a basket or take a lock that is not issued to you

Iniforms:

1. The uniform required for Physical Education will be black shorts and a gray "T"-shirt.

  • Shorts can NOT have buttons, pockets or loops of any kind. They must be fingertip length no exceptions.
  • No denim of any kind allowed.
  • Shirts must have sleeves and be long enough to tuck into shorts.

2. Physical Education uniforms may be purchased at the school store.

3. You may NOT wear clothing that you wore to school as your Physical Education uniform.

4. Proper footwear (a lace-up athletic type shoe) is required – sandals, keds, sketchers or any type of boot are not permitted.

5. For student's whose religious beliefs prohibit the wearing of shorts or removing jewelry please speak individually with the student’s coach so special arrangements can be made.

6. Bandanas, sweatbands and hats are not permitted

Jewelry:

1. Due to the safety factors involved in PE; NO jewelry is allowed during class!

2. Lock up your jewelry in your PE basket; it is best to place all loose items in a baggie so they do not fall out!

3. Newly pierced ears with earrings that cannot be removed must be covered with a band-aid, bringing band-aids is the students responsibility.

Grading:
The students will be graded on dressing out and participation in Physical Education.

Illness:
A written note from a parent or guardian will excuse the student from the physical activity for two days only. A doctor’s note must be obtained if the student is going to miss more than two days of participation.

Activity Units:
The majority of our units are co-educational with both boys and girls participating and competing against each other. Please keep in mind that we will always keep the safety of the student first and foremost in our class!
