Enrolling at Saigling Elementary
As a public school system, the Plano schools welcome all students who live within the boundaries of the Plano Independent School District and meet state age and health requirements. Students moving into the district during the summer may call their school to register before the start of the school year. Students who move into the district during the school year should make an appointment to enroll. A student is required to attend school in the attendance zone in which the family resides or obtain an approved transfer.

Records necessary to enroll are:

- Birth Certificate or Passport
- Current Immunization Record Signed by a Physician
- Proof of Residency in Plano ISD (gas or electricity bill, original lease agreement)
- Most Recent Report Card
- Social Security Card
- Parent's Drivers License or Texas Department of Transportation ID card

Attendance
Attendance is taken promptly at 9:00 each day . If the student arrives after 9:00, he/she is counted absent for this day.

Tardies
Students must be in their classroom when the bell rings at 7:45 a.m. We encourage students to be in their seats ready to learn before that time. Students will receive a tardy slip from the office if they arrive after 7:45 a.m. The grade level with the fewest tardies each 9 weeks receives an incentive.

Truancy
A Truancy Information Notice will be given to parents/guardians. It will be sign and returned to the school during the first week of school with the back to school forms.
A call will be made to parent by the teacher and/or counselor after 5 tardies and /or 4 absences.
A letter will be sent home by the counselor/secretary after 7 tardies and/or 6 absences.
A second letter will be sent home by the counselor/secretary after 10 tardies and/or 9 absences.
District will be notified to file truancy if the four above steps have been taken and the student has more than 10 tardies and/or 9 absences.
