I have been a professional educator since 1985 staring out as
a History and Government teacher. I spent 14 years as an Elementary
or Early Childhood School Counselor. I worked for several neighboring
districts, including Fort Worth, Hurst-Euless-Bedford, and Carrollton-Farmers
Branch, before coming to Plano ISD in 2001. Prior to coming to
Saigling, I served as the Assistant Principal at Andrews Elementary
in Plano ISD. I received my Mid-Management/Principal Certification
from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1997. I earned a
Bachelor of Arts in History from UTA in 1985, and my M.Ed. in
counseling from the University of North Texas in 1990. Currently
I am a PhD candidate in Psychological Sciences at the University
of Texas at Dallas.
I am a native Texan and spent most of my life living in Arlington.
I moved to the Plano area in 1999. My family is originally from
East Texas. Even as a young child I dreamed of teaching and working
with children. My mentor is my Aunt, Myrle Cariker, who was a
teacher and principal for many years. I have many hobbies and
interests including reading, going to movies, traveling, and walking
for exercise. I have a cat named Timmy, and enjoy spending time
with friends and family.
I am so thrilled to be the Assistant Principal at Saigling. I
have already been touched by the warmth and friendliness of the
staff, parents, and students! Education is a true passion for
me and I look forward to learning something new each day from
the children at Saigling. I strive to help all students reach
their full potential. If there is ever anything I can do to help
you or your children please do not hesitate to contact me!
