Christina M. with baby and Mentor

Mentors are invaluable to our program. In fact, we call them heroes. Because of their tireless efforts, the students are held accountable and have someone that will guide and encourage them to finish school and become better parents.

As we all know, the more support students have the better their chances of graduating high school and eventually attending a college or university.

Mentors meet with their respective students at least once a month, make numerous phone calls, tutor them, and guide and advise them when they need help. They show them how to take advantage of the resources they are entitled to, such as: Medicaid, child care college applications, scholarships, etc. All in all, the most important contribution the mentors bring to our program is to show the students that they CARE.

If you are interested in becoming a mentor, please e-mail us at latrice.owens@pisd.edu for more information.
