In our quest to teach our students about digital repsponsibility and digital citizenship we have revised our electronic device policy to allow students to use their devices in the halls and cafeteria as long as their phone and their device is silenced and they are NOT taking picture or videos. Teachers have the option to allow students to use their device in class for academic purposes.

U.S. Service Academy Forum

There will be a U.S. Service Academy Forum for high school students interested in attending a U.S. Service Academy. It will be held on Saturday, September 11 at 2:30 in the Conference Center at Collin College - Spring Creek Campus. This forum, provided by U. S. Representative, Sam Johnson, will answer many questions toward applying for a an appointment to the academies. For more specific information, please call Lori McMahon at 972-470-0892.

Congressional Youth Advisory Council

The Third Congressional District of Texas is now taking applications for the Congressional Youth Advisory Council (CYAC). If selected, students will learn about the development of public policy while exploring the role of citizens, lawmakers, experts, and those institutions that directly impact our democracy. To download an application please visit www.SamJohnson.house.gov. Completed applications must be submitted by Friday, September 17th.

Attention Future Engineers

Know a Future Potential Engineer? Want a learn some new fun engineering things and try some hands-on activities? Check out Engineering Saturday at UT Arlington College of Engineering on September 18th. They'll have
sessions at 9am, at 10:45am, and at 1:30pm. Register to come to one session, two sessions or all three! And best of all, it’s FREE! Bring your whole family! Shepton Band Passbook Fundraiser

The Shepton Band annual Entertainment Passbook fundraiser is underway. The cost of the book is $25 dollars. The Passbook has even more coupons this year plus the addition of 6 gift cards valued at $35 on the front cover of the book. You can purchase the Passbook from any Band Member or you may contact Amy Bullington at amycbull@aol.com. The fundraiser ends Sept 15th.

Future Farmers of American

Friends and Family of Plano FFA is a non-profit corporation whose purpose is to raise money through fund raising events to support all 3 PISD FFA Chapters. The monies raised are awarded to FFA students who exhibit their livestock and make premium sale at the Collin County Junior Livestock Show held in January.

Everyone can participate in helping our students be rewarded for their effort in raising, caring for, and showing their animals (steers, heifers, lambs, goats, rabbits, chickens) and in shop and floral projects. We are having a fund raising event this Wednesday, September 1st at the IHOP restaurant on I-75 at Collin Creek Mall from 5:00-9:00pm. Come support our students!

The Plano FFA has it's first annual membership meeting on Tuesday, August 31st at 7:00pm at Schimelpfenig Library. It is going to be an exciting year - the Plano FFA program is growing!

Destination College

The "Princeton Review: Getting In" program will be held on Tuesday, September 21th from 6:30 - 8:30 pm at the Spring Creek Campus Conference Center at 2800 E. Spring Creek Pkwy. The Princeton Review's "Getting In" seminars reveal the secrets of getting accepted to America's "finest colleges". What will get you into college and when should you prepare? How can you take control of the college search and not let it control you? How can you beat the SAT and ACT? You've got questions-- we've got answers! There is no fee to attend, but registration is required.
