Kristin Bishop is the assistant principal of Mary Alice Skaggs Elementary School.  This is her twelfth year in public education.  She has previously taught 4th and 5th grades and special education.  She was also a special education team leader.  Mrs. Bishop is in her 4th year as an assistant principal.

Mrs. Bishop has her undergraduate degree in History from Texas Christian University.  She received her elementary teaching certificate from Tarleton State University.  In 2002, she received  the "Outstanding Educator of the Year" award from the Down Syndrome Guild of Dallas.  In 2004, she earned her Master's degree in Educational Administration from the University of North Texas in Denton.

Mrs. Bishop was born in Chicago, IL.  Her family moved to Arlington, TX when she was 9 years old.  Mrs. Bishop and her husband moved to this side of the metroplex in 1999.  They share their home with a golden retriever and a one-eyed tabby cat!  Mrs. Bishop is the proud aunt of 6 nephews and 2 nieces.  One interesting thing about Mrs. Bishop is that school administration runs in her family- her younger brother is also an assistant principal!

Mrs. Bishop is thrilled to work at Skaggs Elementary.  She says, "Each day at Skaggs is an opportunity to learn and grow, for both the students and the staff.  The atmosphere at Skaggs inspires everyone to love learning.  Everywhere you look, students are engaged in new learning and activities.  And just when you think the students have learned it all, they amaze us by reaching for the stars and achieving something else for us to celebrate.  I love to ask students about their work and their projects.  Each time I ask, the boys and girls astonish me with their insight and connections.  I'm so proud to be a part of this exceptional school."
