The counselors’ role is to support the children, faculty, and parents in any way possible. We have classroom guidance with each grade level either every week, or every other week. This consists of the counselor going into the classroom to teach a lesson. These lessons are on such subjects as decision making, peer pressure, friendship, anger and conflict resolution, stress, study skills, drugs, and child abuse. In addition to classroom guidance, small groups are held each semester for friendship and changing families.
The counselor is also in charge of standardized testing and the Campus Assessment Team, which helps to plan strategies for student success. In any free time, we meet with teachers, students, parents, and stay alert for any crisis that may arise!
