Mary Ann Bargmann is the principal of Mary Alice Skaggs Elementary. This is her thirty-fifth year in education. Twelve years were in the classroom, six years were as a curriculum coordinator, and this is her sixteenth year as an elementary administrator.

Mrs. Bargmann has her Master’s degree in Elementary Education with Reading as her major. She also has forty five additional college hours and is certified in administration in Louisiana and Texas. Her honors include being selected “Elementary Teacher of the Year” in Caddo Parish, and State Educator of Distinction in Louisiana. She also holds a PTA Lifetime Membership award in both Louisiana and Texas.

Mrs. Bargmann was born and raised in Shreveport, Louisiana. She left Shreveport after twenty-one years of teaching and came to Plano, Texas in 1994 after her husband was transferred here with his work. As a parent, Mrs. Bargmann says her greatest accomplishments are those related to her own children, Joe (35), Meshelle (31), and Michael (18), and those of her Skaggs students. “I love working with children. I learn so much from them each day. It was exciting to be asked to become the administrator of Skaggs after being at Barksdale for nine years and opening that building for the district.”

“We have accomplished great things at Skaggs. We have been Exemplary every year we have been open. In 2006, we received thehighest honor that can be bestowed on a school. We became a ationally Recognized Blue Ribbon School! I was so proud to travel to Washington, D.C. to accept this prestigious award on behalf of our school. In 2007, Skaggs also received for the first time, the highest award from the State of Texas. We were recognized as a Texas Business and Education Coalition (TBEC) Honor Roll School. This award, like the Blue Ribbon award, was based on our exceptionally high commended scores.”

“Skaggs is an exciting place to be. We have a dedicated, hard working staff, a committed and supportive parent community, and the most wonderful and bright students you could hope for. I love coming to work each day. Together with our master teachers, involved community, and exemplary programs, I am confident we will continue to make Skaggs a school where students can REACH FOR THE STARS!”
