Pre-Registration
Procedures

Beginning on August 24, 2009 all GED candidates will need to complete the online GED Demographic Form before coming to the test center to register to take the GED tests.

The GED Demographic Form is a method for GED test-takers to create their own online record in The University of Texas at Austin (UT) GED database.

Please log on to the following website to create your access to The University of Texas system and start your own online demographic record as a GED test-taker.

Once your online GED demographic record is complete then you can complete your registration at the Plano ISD GED Test Center.

Test Fee:
$85.00 for initial test 
$20.00 per test retake
$20.00 reschedule fee per test
All fees must be paid at registration with a money order made out to Plano ISD
Fees are non-refundable!
Items required for registration
Applicants who are 17 years of age must provide:
    1. Official withdrawal from school last attended. (Must be obtained from GED Chief Examiner).
    2. Official State Consent Form, signed by parent or guardian. (Must be obtained from GED Chief Examiner).
    3. Government issued ID that includes the following: Date of Birth, Photograph, Address and Signature (NO EXCEPTIONS).
    4. Social Security Card or Birth Certificate.
    5. Money order for test fee. 
Applicants who are 18 years of age or older must provide:

Retesting Information: Candidates who are re-testing must bring the items required for registration (Listed Above) and a copy of their GED test results. If it has been less than 6 months since your last test, the Texas Eduction Agency requires that you bring a waiver/letter from your GED instructor before re-testing.

Test Length:
The five-part GED Test is administered in two morning sessions. Each section will only be offered at the specified time/day below:
GED Test takers must arrive by 8:00 a.m. on test day.

All applicants must be in the testing room by 8:00 a.m. Late arrival will result in a $20.00 reschedule fee.
Test Results

The entire G.E.D. exam is scored in Austin by the University of Texas. The Texas Education Agency will mail your results/certificate directly to you in approximately 3-4 weeks.

 

New Test Coming Out "New forms of the GED Tests are expected January 1, 2012. The scores on your test report cannot be combined with the 2012 series of the GED Tests. By December 31, 2011 you must have earned a total passing score of at least 2250 (450 average) with no score less than 410, or you will need to take the entire 2012 series."
