The parent or legal guardian is responsible for providing all information before enrollment can be completed. If not a parent, legal proof of guardianship is required.
Age Requirements
Kindergarten:
Children must be five years old on or before September 1 to be admitted to kindergarten.First Grade:
To attend first grade in Plano ISD, a child must be six years old on or before September 1 or have been previously enrolled in the first grade of a public school in another state or have completed public school kindergarten in another state. Children who are underage but will become six between September 1 and December 31 may enroll in first grade through the district's kindergarten acceleration procedures. The child should be registered during the regular Kindergarten registration at his/her school.Kindergarten Acceleration - In order to apply for the testing process, parents must attend a parent information meeting through the Plano ISD. You may check with the front office of the school your child will attend to get more information on this meeting.
Health Information
Immunization Requirements for 2007-2008:
Texas law requires proof of immunization against Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis, Poliomyelitis, Hepatitis B, and HIB, and proof of immunization or a history of illness from Rubella, Rubeola, Mumps and Varicella. Pre-k students are required to have Hepatitis A and Pneumococcal. This is required of every student, according to prescribed school grade criteria, seeking admission to or enrolled in any school in the Plano Independent School District.

Medical Exemption: The law allows physicians to write a statement stating that the vaccine(s) required would be medically harmful or injurious to the health and well being of the child. The written statement by the physician must be submitted to the school. Unless it is written in the statement that a lifelong condition exists, the exemption statement is valid for only one year from the date signed by the physician.
Conscientious/Religious Exemption: The law allows parents/guardians to choose an exemption from immunization requirements for reasons of conscience, including a religious belief. Instructions for the affidavit to be signed by parents/guardians can be found at www.ImmunizeTexas.com. The completed and returned form from the TDH must be submitted to the school. The affidavit will be
valid for two years.
Please note: In the case of an outbreak, an un-immunized child may be prohibited from school attendance.
