Homework & Grading
	There will be reading every night. (approximately 15 minutes) There will also be math, spelling and a take home journal. A packet will be sent home Monday and returned on Friday for completion. The packet is designed to meet busy schedules and to make homework less stressful. :)
	All first graders are on the portfolio assessment plan. If you were in PISD kindergarten last year, you should have a Parent Handbook. Families new to PISD will receive one shortly. Please read the handbook carefully and keep it for future reference. Objectives and curriculum for the year are also in the handbook. There will be three scheduled conferences and one Portfolio Celebration to review your child’s progress and set goals.
