Here are some ways you can help your child become more successful this year:

Set a time and place for homework to be done.

Have a set location for school supplies:  homework, library book, money, etc.

Check backpack and take-home folder daily.

Make sure no toys are brought to school.

Help students establish a routine so they can come prepared daily with folders, any homework or library book, snack, lunch or lunch money.

Students should arrive by 7:30.

Keep teachers informed of any changes in family situation -- new baby, job change, death of pet, or extended family illness.

9:10-10:45 Language Arts
10:45-11:45 Math
11:45-12:15 Lunch
12:15-12:45 Recess
12:45-1:20 Language Arts
1:20-2:40 Integrated
2:40-2:45 Dismissal routine

Homework Schedule
All second graders will be given homework:
Spelling given out on Monday, due Wednesday
Math given out on Wednesday, due Friday
Students are encouraged to read for fifteen minutes nightly. Additional activities may be sent home at anytime, so please check your child’s folder daily.
 
 
Academic Expectations

Additional homework is sometimes assigned to practice or review a skill. Assigned written work will be designated by HW Due: _____ at the top of the page. Assignments should not be require more than 15-20 minutes.

Read together 15 minutes daily. Continue reading to student to model good reading but also allow time for the student to be the reader.
