National Anthem DayOn September 14th, Thomas Elementary celebrated National Anthem Day. Thomas students, dressed in red, white, and blue, formed the letters USA on the basketball court. At 9:00 AM, Thomas students, staff, parents, and representatives from our armed forces sang the National Anthem. This same scene took place at many other schools around the nation as part of the National Anthem Project. The National Anthem Project seeks to showcase the important role music education plays in teaching American historical and musical traditions. |

What the USA Means to Me |
|
This outstanding country I’m in, called the USA, defines a lot of things that are so great! USA means a lot of things to me like troops, songs, freedom and patriotism. Our country has gone through a lot, no matter what. I think that the USA is a courageous country and is very dependable. Patriotism to me is a good way to express true feelings about our country. There are many ways to express feelings about the country, like songs, poems, parades, banners, or just writing about it. Patriots also help to keep the country strong. They can really be supportive of the country. The National Anthem is also a great way to describe the USA. In fact, it describes the American Flag that held up no matter what in a war. I personally think that singing the anthem is a great way to show respect for our country. Our country is truly brave and spectacular! |
