Eligiblity information

August 9 Classes begin. All students eligible according to the following criteria:
Students beginning grades Nine and below must have been promoted from a lower grade prior to the beginning of the current school year.
Students beginning their second year of high school must have earned five credits which count toward state high school graduation requirements.
Students beginning their third year of high school either must have earned a total of ten credits which count toward state high school graduation credits or a total of five credits which count toward state high school graduation requirements must have been earned during the 12 months proceeding the first day of the current school year.
Students beginning their fourth year of high school either must have earned a total of 15 credits which count toward state high school graduation credits or a total of five credits which count toward state high school graduation requirements must have been earned during the 12 months proceeding the first day of the current school year. Exceptions:
When a migrant student enrolls for the first time during a school year, all criteria cited above applies. All other students who enroll too late to earn a passing grade for a grading period are ineligible.
High school students transferring from out-of-state may be eligible the first six weeks of school if they meet the criteria cited above or school officials are able to determine that they would have been eligible if they had remained in the out-of-state school from which they are transferring.
Students who are not in compliance with these provisions may request a hardship appeal of their academic eligibility through the UIL state office.
September 14 End of 6 weeks grading period. Any student failing a course is eligible for seven calendar days then loses eligibility.
September 21 Previously ineligible students passing all courses on 9/14/06 regain eligibility at the end of the school day. Previously eligible students failing one or more courses on 9/14/06 lose eligibility.
October 2-6 Fall Break— because this is a break of a week or more all students eligible from end of school on 9/29/06 and remain eligible until the beginning of school on 10/9/06
October 12- 3 week checkpoint. Any student failing a class on 9/14/06 who is passing all courses at the end of the day is eligible in 7 calendar days.
October 19 Previously ineligible students passing all classes on 10/12/06 regain eligibility.
November 2- End of 6 weeks grading period. Any student previously eligible who is now failing a course remains eligible for seven calendar days then loses eligibility.
November 9 Previously ineligible students passing all courses on 11/2/06 regain eligibility at the end of the school day. Previously eligible students failing one or more courses on 11/2/06 lose eligibility.
November 21- 3 week checkpoint. Any student failing a class on 11/2/06 who is passing all courses at the end of the day is eligible in 7 calendar days.
November 28 Previously ineligible students passing all classes on 11/21/06 regain eligibility.
December 21 End of 6 weeks grading period. Because this begins a break of a week or longer; all students become eligible at the end of the school day and remain eligible until the beginning of school January 4, 2007.
January 4 Classes begin. Previously ineligible students passing all courses on 12/21/06 remains ineligible until the end of the school day on 1/11/07. Previously eligible students failing one or more courses on 12/21/06 remain eligible for 7 calendar days.
January 11 Previously ineligible students passing all courses on 12/21/06 regain eligibility at the end of the school day. Previously eligible students failing one or more courses on 12/21/06 lose eligibility.
January 25- 3 week checkpoint. Any student failing a class on 12/21/06 who is passing all courses at the end of the day is eligible in 7 calendar days
February 1 Previously ineligible students passing all classes on 1/25/07 regain eligibility.
February 15 End of 6 weeks grading period. Any student previously eligible who is now failing a course remains eligible for seven calendar days then loses eligibility.
February 22 Previously ineligible students passing all courses on 2/15/07 regain eligibility at the end of the school day. Previously eligible students failing one or more courses on 2/15/07 lose eligibility.
March 5-9 Spring Break— Because this is a break of a week or longer; all students become eligible from end of school on 3/2/07 and remain eligible until the beginning of school on 3/12/07
March 15 -3 week checkpoint. Any student failing a class on 2/15/07 who is passing all courses at the end of the day is eligible in 7 calendar days.
March 22 Previously ineligible students passing all classes on 3/15/07 regain eligibility.
April 5 -End of 6 weeks grading period. Any student previously eligible who is now failing a course remains eligible for seven calendar days then loses eligibility.
April 12 Previously ineligible students passing all courses on 4/5/07 regain eligibility at the end of the school day. Previously eligible students failing one or more courses on 4/5/07 lose eligibility.
April 26- 3 week checkpoint. Any student failing a class on 4/5/07 who is passing all courses at the end of the day is eligible in 7 calendar days.
May 3 Previously ineligible students passing all classes on 4/26/07 regain eligibility.
