ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages)

Prerequisite: Appropriate tests scores on language screening test and achievement test or TAAS.

This course is designed for the student whose primary language is one other than English. Emphasis is on development of listening, speaking, reading and writing skills in English.

The ESOL staff will assess the student's English skills. The Language Proficiency Assessment Committee will then determine the instructional level of the student, will recommend the appropriate English and ESOL classes, and will obtain parental approval for placement of the student in the ESOL program.
