Medical Science is one of the many elective programs offered at Vines. Medical Science is a one-year course which can be taken as a substitute for health. There is an Intro to Medical Science available for one semester, but it is not a prerequisite for Medical Science the following year. In Medical Science you learn basic medical skills, such as taking a pulse, respiration rate, and blood pressure. During this course you have the opportunity to become certified in CPR. Students also learn about the body systems and learn medical terms that are needed to advance to Clinical Rotation. Medical Science is a prerequisite for Clinical Rotation, which is offered at the senior high schools.

Students involved in any of the medical programs offered will have the opportunity to join an organization called HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America.) Members will be coached in a specific category and will then compete in the regional HOSA competition towards the end of the year.
