So you’re going to have a Wildcat?
If you are going to have a student in 11th or 12th grade at Plano Senior
High next year then you will want to come to this PTSA program! Junior
parents will learn about all the library resources that are available to the
students, receive the Unofficial Guide to Plano Senior High booklet that was
written by PTSA parents for parents, learn how to make the transition easier
for your student, and so much more!
If you are going to have a Senior next year and still just don’t know as
much as you would like, or just want to be prepared to make their Senior
year a great one, then this is the program for you too! Meet us at the PSHS
library on May 15th at 6:30 pm starting with a short PTSA meeting and the
program immediately following. Please RSVP to pshs_ptsa@yahoo.com by May
12th.
The Library is upstairs above the cafeteria in building C. See the campus
map at
http://k-12.pisd.edu/Schools/PSHS/Admin/map.htm.

(2) Calling All Wildcats!!!
Plano pep rally May 9th.
We are having a cook-off and silent auction and are inviting all the Plano
Senior High feeder school families to promote the Wildcats and the upcoming
football year. Coach Jaydon McCullough, Plano's new head football coach,
has/will visit each Plano feeder school and speak with the football players.
A flyer will be handed out to all the 6th through 10th grade football
players. All players, families, siblings and friends are invited to this
event. If any player registers ahead of time by sending in their form and
money, they will receive a wildcat football t-shirt with their meal. We
hope to have 500 - 600 boys, siblings and parents at this event. There will
be a silent auction, entertainment, photos taken and performances from the
cheerleaders and drill team; a fun time for the entire family. If anyone
has a specialty or connections and would like to donate, it would be very
much appreciated!
Calling all golf players. The Wildcat golf tournament is May 30th at Twin
Creeks, so sign up now!
If you have any questions, please let me know.
Thanks! GO WILDCATS!

(4) Library Books Due
All Vines library books are due on Friday, May 16th. Students may drop them
off at the circulation desk, or place them in the drop box outside the
library. We have many students with overdue books, and these students were
informed last week. Please ask your teen if he/she has one of our library
books in their room, backpack, car, grandparent's house, etc. The books
MUST be turned in or paid for if lost before the end of the school year. No
personal checks can be accepted after May 15th. Thank you for the reminders
to your teens about overdues and fines. If you have any questions or
concerns about your teen's library account, please contact Vines librarian

On April 23, three of our deaf ed students, Carlos Martinez, Elizabeth
Rivera, and Marisol Echeverria, participated in a Communication/Speech
Contest for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing sponsored by the Optimist Club.
All three students received medals for their speeches. Carlos qualified to
go on to the district level which will take place on May 17th. We are very
proud of them!

(6) PISD Student seeks marrow donors
Sixteen year old Austin Webster, a Jasper HS student, has myelodysplasia, a
bone marrow disorder usually found in persons between age 60 and 75. In
about a third of the cases, the disease progresses into a form of leukemia.
The only cure is a marrow transplant, but he needs to find a match.
He is asking adults between 18 and 60 to register on May 15 as donors for
the National Marrow Donor Program.
The drive will be held at Pump It Up, an inflatable party place at Frankford
Road and Marsh Lane. Kids can jump and play while adults get a quick cheek
swab.

Pre-enrollment begins March 24 and ends May 23.
It is extremely important that students make up any core classes not passed
in the current year due to the new 4x4 graduation plan!
See your Vines counselor if you have any questions.

(12) New! Two ways to help monitor student performance.
In addition to Parent Viewer, there is now another way to check students’
school performance, attendance, and help keep up with assignments.
ECC is being replaced by a new system, mypisd.net, which allows parents to
view their child’s desktop, in the same format the student sees at school.
Teachers have begun posting calendars and upcoming assignments to the
mypisd.net site, and ECC will no longer be used.
In the future, parents will have separate login information to access
student information, but at this time, parents will need to ask their child
to provide the login information they use while at school, to access the
files from home.
The website for this service is http://vines.mypisd.net.
_____________________________________________________________
Online access to view grades and attendance is available on the Parent
Viewer web site. Reports available online will enable you to view details
such as assignments, quizzes and tests, along with the grade, score weights,
due dates, and maximum values. Missing assignment reports are also an
option for you to view.
You will also have the ability to sign up for automatic email subscriptions
and will be able to schedule the following types of reports:
• Unexcused absence
• Detailed attendance
• Grade summary
• Detailed grade information
• Grade notification
New users may now register for this service online at
http://parentviewer.pisd.edu to setup individual account information for
access.
Teachers will be updating their students’ grades every Monday and attendance
will be updated throughout each day. Exceptions may exist to this guideline
due to a variety of factors which include holidays, major projects and
teacher absences.
If you have questions involving registering for the Plano ISD Parent Viewer
service, please email parentviewer@pisd.edu.
Questions regarding grades and attendance can be directed to your child’s
teacher or principal.
