MISSION, OBJECTIVES AND GOALS
2006-2007
WELLS ELEMENTARY MISSION STATEMENT:
We, the parents and staff of W.H.L. Wells Elementary School, believe that self-esteem is the foundation of successful learning. Our mission is to provide a positive nurturing environment in which all students are challenged to: discover the joy of life-long learning; master and exceed basic skill levels and realize individual potential; develop creative critical thinking and problem-solving skills; become responsible citizens; so that they may effectively function in, and contribute to the well-being of our rapidly changing world.
PTA OBJECTIVES:
- To promote the welfare of children and youth in the home, school, community and worship.
- To raise the standards of home life.
- To secure adequate laws for the care and protection of children and youth.
- To bring into closer relation the home and the school, that parents and teachers may cooperate intelligently in the education of children and youth.
- To develop between educators and the general public such united efforts as will secure for all children and youth the highest advantages in physical, mental, social, and spiritual education.
PTA GOALS:
The goals of the Wells PTA are as follows:
- To build a sense of community that is open and accessible to everyone.
- To strengthen communication between parents, the PTA organization, staff, teachers, students and community.
- To support and enhance academic programs for students in partnership with teachers, staff, community and PTA.
- To provide social opportunities to foster school spirit, and link school family, and community.
- To utilize community partners as tutors, speakers and volunteers.
- To provide a warm, safe and inviting atmosphere for all Wells students, staff, and families.
- To provide funds to meet the general PTA budget from PTA sponsored fundraisers to accomplish PTA goals, programs, and projects.
- To provide, maintain and enhance volunteer opportunities for families to encourage continued active parental participation in education.
- To educate parents and staff about legislation, and provide information about local, state, and federal issues.
