At the Wells Library, we encourage everyone to read, research and
explore. Kindergarten through second grade come in weekly for storytimes
and checkouts. Grades 3-5 will visit for weekly checkouts and monthly
lessons on research and literature. Students may also visit with passes
throughout the week. Please contact the library for schedules.

Happy Reading!

Circulation Policy
Students may check out the following number of items:

Kindergarten: 1 item the first 9 weeks, increasing to 2 items
First Grade: 2 items.
Second Grade: 2 items
Third Grade: 3 items
Fourth Grade: 4 items
Fifth Grade: 5 items

Items available for checkout include books, magazines, selected reference items and audiocassette kits. All materials are due one week after checkout.

Check-In Procedures
Items may be returned to the library by placing them in the tub provided in each grade level area. These returns will be collected daily and checked in. Also, students may return items to the book drop in the library.

Renewals
Students may renew items by bringing them to the checkout desk. Items must be present to be renewed. There is a maximum of two renewals for an item.

Overdues
Students with overdue items may not check out additional items until all items are returned. Overdue lists are printed and distributed to classroom teachers every other week.

Lost and Damaged Books
If a book or other item is lost or damaged, the librarian will determine the repair or replacement cost and send home a note with the student. Payments may be made by cash or check and should be made out to Wells Elementary School. If a lost item is later found, the student will receive a refund letter. A parent must sign this letter and return it to the librarian or office manager in order to receive the refund.

The library will hold books for one day for a student with an unresolved issue. If the student does not return to resolve the issue, the books will be reshelved. We do not reserve books in advance that are already checked out to other patrons.
