Drop Off Directions Thecarpool line for Wells moves in a southerly direction. (see arrows on the map) You cannot turn left into the school's driveway from Mission Ridge during the morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up periods. Violators do receive tickets. The west side of Mission Ridge in front of the school is a no parking zone. For the safety of all our students, please do not stop here to drop off your children. Be aware that school starts at 7:45 a.m., and students who are not in their classrooms at that time are considered tardy. The carpool line is often very heavy between 7:35 and 7:45.
In the afternoon, students sit with their grade levels as they wait for their rides. Please pull as far forward in the line as possible. Please do not stop in front of your child's grade level. A sign with your child's name and grade level that you can show to members of the safety patrol will help quicken afternoon pick-up.

Dedication
April 22, 1979 marked the dedication for W. H. L. Wells Elementary.
The school had opened its doors on November 27, 1978. Students began
that school year at Saigling while waiting for Wells to open. Our school
is named for an early settler in Plano, William Henry Lafayette Wells.
The school superintendent in 1978-79 was Dr. H. Wayne Hendrick.
John Wells, a grandson of William Henry Lafayette Wells, unveils a portrait
of the Confederate Army soldier at the school dedication as Wells Elementary
principal Nell Pearce looks on.
Mrs. Nell Pearce, the school's first principal, served Wells until her
retirement in 1998. Under her guidance, the school gained recognition
for academic excellence.
Mr. Brad Weldon became Well's second principal. Wells maintained exemplary
status under his leadership. At the end of the 2000-2001 school year,
Mr. Weldon left Wells to accept an administrative position with his
church.
The commitment to excellence has continued under the guidance of Well's
third principal, Mrs. Lisa Long. As a graduate of the Plano school system,
she brings a unique perspective to her role at Wells
